Official iPhone and Android Twitter App Gets Updated [News]

Twitter, the most used micro-blogging site on the Internet, released an update of its official mobile app for the iPhone and Android. There’s nothing Twitteriffic about the new 4.1 version update, released on Tuesday, but for those who tweet by phone, there are a few welcomed navigation features brought back to the app.
Both mobile versions of the program got the swipe shortcut feature back, which enables you can slide your finger across a tweet and it reveals options for contact reply, retweeting, starring and exporting a tweet, and a profile link icon. This swipe attribute saves you a total of one tap compared to the old version, and most of all it means you don’t have to leave the timeline in order to perform common actions.
Each version also now as a press and hold action on links that will deliver up several options for opening the link in Safari, as well tweeting, copying, mailing or bookmarking and embedded link for later reading.
This version update is optimized for Ice Cream Sandwich, the Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet and Barnes & Nobel’s Nook and Nook Color tablets.
Both versions also include a few other notable capabilities for copying and pasting tweets, and you can now see in profiles whether or not a user is following you.
The app also developers list improved startup time and performance for the app, and lots of “other polish and bug fixes,” plus Turkish language support.
