CyanogenMod 9 Nightly Builds Add New Device Support [News]

March 8, 2012 | In: Uncategorized

Support for CyanogenMod9’s nightly builds has been expanded to several additional devices including the Samsung Galaxy S II, the ASUS Transformer TF101 and the ASUS Transformer Prime TF201. These three join the Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Nexus S and Motorola XOOM.

Rooting your phone and installing a custom ROM puts you into a unique circle of geeks with more control and knowledge about the Android smartphones they own. But perhaps you want to take a step further and be a part ROM development’s cutting edge. If so, nightly builds are for you.

Nightly builds are custom ROM releases that are built and released on a daily basis and include all the code updates from the previous day. They are not tested for stability and may include incomplete features. Those brave enough to download and use them receive first access to new features and also have the chance to help squash bugs by informing the developers of any problems.

Only the smartphones listed above are part of the nightly build program at this time. Although nightly builds don’t have a particular reputation for crashing phones or deleting data, anything is possible, so be sure to backup frequently. The download links can be found below.
